Colpermin IBS Relief contains 0.2ml of peppermint oil, a natural antispasmodic clinically proven to relieve the painful spasms, cramps, and bloating associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Each capsule features a special gastro-resistant sustained-release coating, ensuring the peppermint oil safely bypasses the stomach and is released directly into the lower bowel where it is most needed to relax the intestinal muscles.
Who can use Colpermin?
Colpermin Peppermint Oil Capsules can be used by adults and adolescence 15 years and over (who have been formally diagnosed with IBS by a medical professional). Excipient Warning: Contains arachis oil (peanut oil). Do not use if allergic to peanuts or soya.
How to take?
- Adults and adolescents over 15 years: Take one capsule three times a day. If your symptoms are severe, the dose can be increased to two capsules three times a day.
- Administration: Swallow the capsule whole with a small glass of water. Do not chew, crush, or bite the capsule, as this will destroy the protective coating.
- Timing: Take the capsules 30 to 60 minutes before meals.
- Duration of Treatment: Continue taking the capsules until your symptoms resolve, usually within one to two weeks. Do not take Colpermin for longer than 3 months continuously without consulting your doctor.
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding consult your doctor before purchasing or taking these capsules
What to do during an IBS flare?
Drinking plenty of clear fluids, sipping small amounts frequently throughout the day rather than taking large gulps will help you restore any fluids lost during diarrhoea, or help get to soften stools if you are experiencing constipation.
We recommend oral rehydration salt sachets, such as Dioralyte, dissolved in fresh drinking water to rapidly restore potassium, sodium, and chloride balance. For abdominal or back cramps, a hot water bottle can help to relieve the pain or you could apply a heat patch if you are on the go.
During an active flare-up, avoid spicy foods, dairy products, fatty or fried meals, caffeine, alcohol, and artificial sweeteners, as these can irritate the intestinal lining and prolong symptoms.
Active Ingredients & Composition: Each sustained-release capsule contains 0.2ml Peppermint Oil.
Excipient Warning: Contains arachis oil (peanut oil). Do not use if allergic to peanuts or soya.
Do not take Colpermin if:
- You are allergic to peppermint oil, menthol, or any of the other ingredients.
- You are allergic to peanuts or soya (this product contains arachis oil/peanut oil).
- You suffer from liver disease, gallstones, or any other biliary disorders.
- You have reduced gastric acid production (achlorhydria).
- Do not take Colpermin at the same time as antacids, indigestion remedies, or medicines that reduce stomach acid (such as Losec, Pepcid AC, or Nexium). These medicines reduce stomach acidity, which can cause the Colpermin capsule to dissolve prematurely in the stomach, leading to severe heartburn and gastric irritation. If you need to take indigestion remedies, leave at least 2 hours between taking them and Colpermin.
When to Consult Your Doctor:
Seek medical attention if your diarrhoea persists for more than 48 hours, if you experience a high fever (above 38.5°C), notice blood or mucus in your stool, suffer from severe continuous abdominal pain, or display signs of severe dehydration such as dry mouth, dizziness, confusion, or passing little to no urine.
